Based on other reviews I prepared for what I thought would be a miserable experience. I literally brought cleaning supplies (reviews said the place was dirty), bug spray (reviews suggested there may be bugs), Febreeze (reviews suggested the rooms stink), ear plugs (because the walls are supposedly thin and the halls are noisy) and additional linens (reviews suggest no towels are available in the pool area, nor do they refresh your linens during your stay). We will begin with the fact that although it is an older place, the lobby is very nice and our room was modestly updated. The bedding was clean and fresh. The walls in the main area of our room looked recently painted. The flooring was a tile and could have used a good mopping. But overall we were pleased. I went so far as to pull back the sheets to check for evidence of bugs, and NOTHING was there. Not a single speck. The bathroom was a step lower on the updated scale. A new shower had been tiled in, and they have painted the tub with some kind of epoxy to make it brighter and whiter. But the flooring and sink could use a refresh. However, all was clean. The towels and toilet paper might rival what I imagine is available in prison, so fair warning on the "quality" there. At night there was some noise, but nothing to cause an inability to sleep. And the price...The price was the singular reason I was willing to risk staying at this motel. I believe the cost was in the low $70 range per night during The Brickyard 400. I couldn't buy a tent and stay at the KOA for that price!
